Beneficiaries express dissatisfaction

It has reported that among 133 households which were selected as earthquake affected beneficiaries as per initial list of DRDA Imphal East; only 70 houses were recommended while the rest are cancelled by the local pradhan of present Latingkhal GP .
The initial list was prepared for the residents of Jiribam CD Block following jolt of massive earthquake in 2015 where many houses were affected in Jiribam District among which some houses of Latingkhal Gram Panchayat of Jiribam CD Block were also affected.
Some beneficiaries whose names were not included in the final selection alleged that as per initial list of DRDA Imphal East, 133 households from Latingkhal Gram Panchayat of Jiribam CD Block were selected as earthquake affected beneficiaries.
However only 70 houses were recommended by the local pradhan of present Latingkhal GP and the rest are cancelled.
While speaking with the media person today, the beneficiaries said that when they enquired to the local pradhan of Latingkhal Gram Panchayat about the reason of cancelling their names from the beneficiaries list of earthquake affected, the said pradhan put the blame to other officials for cancelling their names but on further enquiry, the pradhan has admitted that he has cancelled their names from the beneficiaries list The beneficiaries also alleged that the pradhan of Latingkhal GP instead of giving appropriate reasons resorted to indecent behavior and threatened the beneficiaries that they can take any action against him.
"In the immediate aftermath of the 2015 disaster, the government had announced that it would provide a grant amount of Rs70,000 to each household for the reconstruction of damaged homes under LAY special project, but the beneficiaries are yet to get the benefits", added the beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries urged the concern authority to look into the matter at the earliest.
