Meitei heritage park soon at Myanmar

Necessary steps are underway to set up a heritage park for Meiteis (Kate) residing in Myanmar at the Yangon National Heritage park, Myanmar.
A team of media persons led by DIPR Director Heisnam Balkrishna, visited the heritage park today, as part of their nine days tour to Myanmar.
The tour enters third day today.
Act East Policy Committee convenor RK Shivachandra was also present in me tour.
The park showcases the history, tradition and cultural practices of 16 different tribes.
DIPR Director Balkrishna conveyed that the Myanmar Government is planning to set up a Meitei (Kate) heritage park in the National park itself.
He further stated the Manipur Government will also be urged to press the Myanmar Government for a speedy construction of the Meitei heritage park.
He opined that the heritage park, if successfully constructed, will help in enlightening the history and knowledge about the particular community.
The park which is popularly known as National Races Village, Union of Myanmar displays traditional houses of different tribes including the Shan, the Kachin, the Burmese and the Chin and their cultural practices and lifestyle.
