Thoubal, September 11 2018:
National Highway New Alignment Affected Land Owners Committee has decried "indifferent attitude" of the Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, National Highway Infrastructure development Corporation and authorities concerned on expansion of the NH-102 (Imphal-Moreh) .
Denouncing the expansion work/new alignment of the NH, president of the affected landowners' committee Tekcham Lokeshwor said that the Deputy Commissioner should see to the conduction of the expansion work in a fair manner.
Speaking to media persons at a press meet organised by the affected landowners/pattadars from Wangjing Khaba-Khong Thong to Heirok Lamkhai, T Lokeshwor clarified that the committee is not against the NH expansion work of the Government.
"The committee is not against the expansion of the National Highway but the way the expansion is being carried out," he said and denounced the move that the expansion towards east of the median will be 75 feet.
According to the committee, the authority concerned has acquired 50 feet from the median towards the west
(of the median) .
However, the authority concerned has notified that 75 feet will be expanded towards the east of the median.
Condemning the authority concerned and the Government for not acquiring the land uniformly from each side of the median, the committee appealed that authority concerned to do a resurvey of the section of the road (from Wangjing Khaba-Khong Thong to Heirok Lamkhai) and expand only 50 feet on each side of the median.
The committee recalled that earlier in 2017, the then Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal L Nabakishore had conducted a public hearing regarding the expansion work with affected landowners of 18 revenue villages.
The landowners had resolved to allow expansion of only 50 feet on each side of the median.
The DC had intimated the stand of the affected landowners to the Revenue Commissioner, said the committee and appealed the Government to hear its demands and stand regarding the matter.
