Hueiyen Lanpao's Meisnam Karnajit to receive Chingsubam Akaba Memorial Journalist Award

The Chingsubam Akaba Memorial Journalist Awards 2014-15 will be conferred on distinguished journalists of the State on November 9 next on the occasion of 71st birth anniversary of the late leader at Thawai village under Phungyar assembly constituency of Ukhrul District.
It may be mentioned that Chingsubam Akaba took major role in reviving the indigenous Meetei script, Meetei religion and strengthening brotherhood, love and fraternal harmony between the people of hills and the valley in Manipur.
Poknapham Editor A Robindro Sharma will be given the Editorial Award which carries a cash incentive of Rs 20,000, a memento and a certificate.
Hueiyen Lanpao Bureau Chief Meisnam Karnajit will be honoured with the Best Report Award for print-media while the Best Report award for the electronic media will be conferred on ISTV Networks' L Pritam.
Both the awards carry Rs 10,000 cash, a memento and a certificate each.

The names of the awardees were announced on Friday by Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Ningsing Lup (LUCANIL) Convener N Tomba at a press meet held at Pandam office, Waheng Leikai.
On the awards distribution ceremony, which will be held jointly with LUCANIL, Thawai Village Authority and Pandam Management Board, N Tomba said that Chingsubam Akaba was a leader for the people of Manipur who tirelessly dedicated his life for the revival of the State's language, religion and strengthened the ties between hills and valley communities.
His 71st birth anniversary will be observed on November 9 next and the awards will be distributed on the occasion.
A calendar of Pandam, where Akava worked as the Editor, will also be released on the day.
Shumang Leela "Kangleipakta 1709" (Puya Mei Thaba) will be staged by Manipur State Shumang Leela Council on the occasion, said N Tomba.
Thawai village headman Ng Khathing, who also attended the press meet, said the people of the hills and the valley are brothers who lived on the same soil.
Under such an atmosphere and the concept of brotherhood, the birth anniversary of Chingsubam Akaba will be observed, said Ng Khathing.
He exhorted the current generation to follow the path charted by the late leader who tried to bring unity between the hills and valley communities.
He also appealed all, irrespective of hills and valley divide to attend the observation and requested not to call any bandh, blockade or general strike on the day.
