MLA inspects water supply schemes in Kumbi AC, assures water supply to every household by March 2019

Led by MLA Kumbi AC S Bira Singh, EE PHED Bishnupur Division L Gokulchandra Singh along with the officials of the department made around trip in Kumbi AC and inspected all the Water Supply Schemes functioning in the area today.
The inspection cum survey was undertaken with the objective to upgrade and improve the existing Water Supply Scheme in the region so that potable water can be reached to every household in Kumbi AC in Bishnupur District by March 2019.The team first inspected the condition of the 'Old Moirang Water Supply Scheme' at Kangbai in Henglep Kendra which is meant to supply water to villagers of Torbung Gram Panchayat and Kangbai village.
The said water supply scheme used to supply water for Moirang too.
As the condition of the water supply scheme is not at optimum level, the team assessed the wear and tear of each components of the plant and said that it will be made fully functional to enable supply of water reached every corner of the region.
Later, the MLA and the team inspected the site at Ithai Wapokpi Mayai Leikai meant to build Wapokpi Water Supply Scheme at the estimated cost of Rs 50 lakh for uninterrupted water supply for the villagers by March 2019.The team led by MLA S Bira Singh also inspected Laingoubi Water Supply Scheme and interacted with the public of Mangling, Khoijumantabi, Laingoubi to discuss the plan and execution of laying down of water pipeline in the area.
Finally, the team inspected the ongoing construction work of the improved water reservoir of ARWS Scheme built at Wangoo Napaching at the cost of Rs 80 lakh to augment its capacity to supply 2.6 lakh litre of water per day.
The said plant was originally constructed in 2005 with the capacity of providing 1.8 lakh litre of water per day.
Regarding the inspection survey, MLA S Bira Singh said that villagers of Torbung Gram Panchayat and Kangbai village will soon be provided uninterrupted water supply after the concerned department made the Old Moirang Water Supply Scheme fully functional.
Besides, the public of Wapokpi village will no longer suffer from intermittent water supply which was hampered due to opposition raised by the land owner at the present site, as a new water supply scheme will be built at the cost of Rs 50 lakh at a new location in Wapokpi Mayai Leikai as the new land owner donated the land for the construction, he added and said the villagers of Wapokpi village will enjoy the supply of potable water soon.
Regarding Laingoubi Water Supply Scheme, he said that laying of water pipeline will soon be started in the area while adding that after the newly constructed improved water reservoir at Wangoo Napa Ching got completed, the capacity of the water supply scheme at Wangoo Napa Ching will increase manifold and will also cover other villages including Wangoo Terakhong and Wangoo Moirangkhong in addition to the present supply area.
He further sought cooperation from the public to make the endeavour of the Govt and the department successful by sharing the responsibility so that objective of providing potable water to every household of Kumbi AC by March 2019 is fulfilled.
EE PHED Bishnupur Dvision L Gokulchandra Singh said that due to wear and tear of Old Moirang Water Supply Scheme at Kangbai, the said plant was not functioning properly and as a result the villagers of Torbung Gram Panchayat and Kangbai village suffered from intermittent water supply.
But, the concerned department will repair the infrastructure of the said plant and start laying down of water pipeline with due consideration of the villagers and local MLAs as well to make available uninterrupted water supply by January next year, he added He continued that the new scheme at Wapokpi will soon be constructed with due approval from the land owner while adding that the improvement work of water reservoir at Wangoo Napa Ching and after its completion, supply of water will reach to other areas including Sabal Leikai, Wangoo Naodaklhong, Wangoo Terakhong, Wangoo Moirangkhong, Wangoo Sandel.
