First Kamjong Federation Cup 2018 Grand Finale

Imphal, November 02 2018:
The newly carved district of Kamjong in Manipur witnessed its first ever mega sports event in the form of the "Kamjong Federation Cup" organised by Assam Rifles over the last one week.
As part of nation building and community development initiatives, Chassad Battalion of 10 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) conducted the event at the newly developed sports ground of Kamjong Goverment High School.
The sports event aligns with the larger Government initiatives of "Khelo India Mission" .

The event was focused at nurturing budding talent at grassroots level and usher new opportunities for the youth of the area.
The week long extravaganza which started on 23 October 2018 concluded in a grand finale on 01 November 2018 .
The pioneer event featured football and volleyball tournaments for men and volleyball tournament for women.
In order to carry forward this initiative and keep the flame alive, a Rolling Trophy for each event was introduced.
The tournament was highly appreciated by the locals of the area.
It has generated a spirit of brotherhood amongst the different communities and brought the people together for a shared future.
The Grand Finale of event was marked by finals of all three tournaments followed by cultural and sports events including tribal folk dance, songs and body building show.
Ningchou team won the Men's Football Championship defeating Chassad (score 02-01) and earned a cash prize of Rs.40,000/- while the runner up won a cash prize of Rs.20,000/- .
Men's Volleyball Championship was won by Chattrik Khullen team who defeated Kangpat Khullen team.
Women's Volleyball Championship was won by Kamjong (FC) team who defeated Kamjong Katamnao Long team.
Winners and Runners up won attractive cash prizes in addition to the coveted trophy.
The Chief Guest for the occasion, DIG 10 Sector Assam Rifles praised the participating teams and locals who had supported the event to make it a success.
The DIG said that sports has always brought people together and fostered a spirit of cohesiveness.
He also shared future initiatives towards providing greater opportunities to the locals, highlighting the role of Assam Rifles as Friends of the North East.
