Manipur artistes return home

15 artistes of Manipur Jagoi Marup have reached home after mesmerising the audience at the 46th Cervantino International Festival in Mexico.
Speaking to media persons in press meet held at the hall of Manipur Jagoi Marup, its senior artiste Ningombam Rina said that the "Indian Council For Cultural Relation (ICCR)" invited and sponsored the artistes (7 male artistes and 8 female artistes) to take part in the prestigious 46th Cervantino International Festival held at Mexico from October 10 to 28 .
Saying that India was invited as guest of honour in the festival which was participated by artistes from more than 30 countries, she added that the State artistes performed various Manipuri classical dances including Pung Cholom, Dhol Cholom and Basanta Raas.
Rina also said that altogether 248 artistes from 11 States represented India in the festival.
Manipuri Jagoi Marup performed in more than 10 locations.
She thanked the ICCR and festival organisers for giving the artistes the opportunity to perform in one of the biggest festivals of the world.
