Education Director Wairokpam Malemnganba has said that the education system needs to be reformed so that the students can utilise the lessons they learned in schools and educational institutes and implement them to improve their lives and the society.
He made the statement during the prize distribution ceremony for the Ultimate Academic Championship 2019, which was organised at Build Your Success (BYS), Macha Leima School under the aegis of RED Radiance today.
Speaking at the event, the Education Director continued that securing top marks and positions in the Class X and XII examinations is very important but it is more important to know the subjects more intimately and implement the lessons and knowledge learnt from these subjects to everyday lives.
He said that many students have become doctors, engineers and others earning good salaries and this is also one of the main reasons for the students to push and attempt for scoring only high marks during examinations.
He lauded RED Radiance for organising the felicitation ceremony for the students who are going to attend the Class X examination and added that this will also enable the students to increase their exam skills and other hidden talents.
He also urged the students to contribute in developing the State as well.
Science Teachers' Forum vice president Yumnam Nabakumar also attended the event as a a presidium member.
It may be mentioned that Ultimate Academic Championship 2019 is a State level competition of English and Social Science for the students who are going to appear the Class X examination, and is organised by RED Radiance annually.
This is the 7th iteration of the competition.
Students who top in this competition, if they score more than 60 percent in the HSLC examination, will get scholarship facilities for 5 years.
Those students who clinch 4th to 10th position in the competition are also given consolation prizes.
