Trip to Mandalay flagged off

A first trip to Mandalay, organised jointly by Khasia Tours Pvt Ltd, Keishampat Thiyam Leikai and MIZZIMA Trading, Yangon, Myanmar was flagged off today.
The tour team comprising of 10 individuals was flagged off by convenor Act East Policy, Government of Manipur RK Shivchandra Singh and managing director Mizzima Trading, Yangon Soe Myint.
Speaking on the sideline of the event, RK Shivchandra said that the recent opening of the Indo-Myanmar land route has made travel between the two countries easy.
The trip is a good step and it will bridge the gap that was there before the land route, he said.
The visit of the high raking officials and people of Myanmar during the Manipur Sangai Festival is a positive sign.
These visits will help improve trade and in general the relation between the Manipur/India and Myanmar, he said.
He further maintained that there is a need to develop Loktak Lake and other tourist destinations in the State in par with other world tourist destinations.
Apart from the many delegates from Myanmar, delegates/people from other countries such as South Korea, Japan and United States are visiting the State to witness Manipur Sangai Festival, he conveyed.
Managing director of MIZZIMA Trading Yangon Soe Myint said that the opening of the border land route was a significant step in building relation between India and Myanmar.
It has enhanced trade and other business transactions between the two countries, he said and called for peaceful, co-operation of the people on both sides of the border.
