Imphal, September 22 2011:
Since the government is unable to solve the current problem of the state, Manipur Peoples Party (MPP) launched its agitation against the economic blockade initiated by SHDDC and UNC on all NHs of the state with submission of memorandums to the PM and Union HM of India.
As a part of its agitation, the party staged a sit in protest at its office today and demanded the dissolution of the SPF government as it has failed to solve the problems arising out of the ongoing economic blockade.
A team of MPP leaders including ex-Party President, Dr L Chandramani, President, Dr Nimaichand Luwang, leader,MPP Legislature wing, O Joy, ex-Minister L Jatra, VP, S Umananda and General Secretary, AC Jayentakumar today met the Governor and discussed minutely the prevailing condition of the state.
A memorandum was also submitted to him.
The Governor assured MPP that the issue will be bought to the notice of the Central government immediately.
He further assured the team that he will press the SHDDC and the UNC to lift their indefinite economic blockade within 2-3 days time.

MPP in its memorandum to the PM and HM said that the life of the common people of the state is being threatened by the economic blockade on the two main life lines of the state for over 50 days on the demand for a full fledged district of Sadar Hills.
It further highlighted the present situation of the state where the price of essential commodities are rising sky high.
The price of onion has gone up to Rs 100/kg while potato sells at Rs 45/kg.The price of a refilled gas cylinder has gone up to Rs 1500 and petrol to Rs 130/ltr.The situation is really alarming.
The most shocking part of the ongoing economic blockade is the burning down of trucks ferrying in life saving drugs and medical items along the NH 2 by blockade supporters.
It is a direct attack on the lives of the people of the state which is beyond one's tolerance.
In fact, the impact of the illegal and unlawful economic blockade is being felt by all sections of the society, charges the memorandum.
The memorandum further holds the present SPF government solely responsible for the present crisis emerging out of the economic blockade.
The weakness and spinelessness of the of the present government has been proven by its stark failure to address the issue properly.
It has totally failed to solve the problem and also to arrange means to lift up the unlawful blockade by any means whatsoever.
Hence it is high time that the central government intervenes in the matter and end the suffering of the people by lifting the economic blockade or to immediately dismiss the incompetent SPF government in the interest of the people.
Protestors at the sit in protest including O Joy, Dr L Chandramani, Dr Nimaichand Luwang and other leaders of MPP condemned the ongoing economic blockade on all NH s of the state and appealed that it should be lifted at the earliest possible time.
