Imphal, November 19 2012:
Five prominent social organizations in the State have jointly pressed the Government of India for CIB probe into the alleged Rs 224 crores K-Pro-Loktak lake deal scam.
In a memorandum jointly submitted to the President of India, FREINDS President Sapamcha Jadumani, President of PANDAM Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, President of LIPUL Somorendro Thokchom, President of UNACSU Justice Malemnganba and President of HERICOUN Mutum Churamani observed that Loktak Lake is synonymous with the rich history, culture, religion and lives of Manipur people.
So, the people were glad when the Planning Commission of India took note over the deteriorating condition of the only largest fresh water lake in the whole northeast and sanctioned Rs 3.34 cores for development of the lake including Rs 224 crores for management of Phumdis.
But it was disgusting that when the Delhi-based Tehelka magazine and all the local news papers published in Manipur reportedly news of mega scam involving crores of rupees by Loktak Development Authority and the lesser known Delhi-based firm called K-Pro Infra Private Works Limited (K-Pro in-short) .
So to ascertain the authenticity of the media reports, various documents were collected from different sources and perused the same.
After due scrutiny of the documents, there is high degree of impression that the published mega scam reports were true and there is a large scale financial embezzlement in the project by violating all the CPWD and State PWD technical norms, financial norms and administrative norms, the memorandum said.
The copy of the memorandum has also been reportedly forwarded to Prime Minister of India, Chairperson of UPA, General Secretary of AICC, Manipur-in charge of AICC, Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission, Presidents and Partners of UPA, President of all National Political parties, Governor of Manipur and President of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee.
