Imphal, November 19 2012:
Stating that Manipur is not the land of any single community, MPP has asserted that no community should seek any exclusive domain at the cost of the more than 2000 years old territorial integrity of the place.
Speaking to some media persons today at their office, MPP president S Umananda pointed out that Manipur is the home of 36 indigenous communities who have been living together in harmony since time immemorial.
Rather than harbouring dissent and ill-feelings, all the communities should unite together for collective development of the land.
There may be some elements who do not wish peace and harmony to prevail in the State.
People need to identify these elements and understand their ulterior motives in order to protect and promote the integrity of Manipur, Umananda said.
Talking about Inner Line Permit System (ILPS), the MPP president underscored the importance of checking influx from outside the State so that the demographic structure is not altered drastically.
He also called upon all the indigenous communities to struggle collectively in order to save themselves from the relentless onslaught by immigrants.
He further stated that MPP would take part in the protest demonstration scheduled to be staged at Delhi on November 25 on the demand of enforcing ILPS in Manipur.
