Manju Diler, member Natl Commission for Safai Karamcharis highlights plight of Safai Karamcharis while visiting Thoubal

Thoubal, November 13 2019:
National Commission for Safai Karamcharis member, Manju Diler visited Thoubal District today.
She had an interaction with DC Thoubal N Bandana and concerned officers regarding the issues of Safai Karamcharis and manual scavengers.
Later, the member addressed a press conference at the conference hall of DC office, Thoubal.
She highlighted the plight of the Safai Karamcharis regarding their irregular and low wages.
The State's rate for skill labour at Rs 273 per day and for unskilled labour at Rs 225 per day were too low and the rate needs to be revised, she added.
She stressed for extension of health card to all the Safai Karamcharis and also their enrolment for preparing labour cards.
She also stated that all the Karamcharis should be given personal protective equipments and they should wear them at all times while working adding that regular health check up should be done and health camps should be arranged by the local bodies.
She maintained that all the Safai Karamcharis should avail EPF facilities with 12% of their wages and the local body should add the same amount.
