One-day targeted intervention programme on mental health organized at DBC Maram

A one day targeted intervention programme on mental health and young adults was organised by District Mental Health Programme (DMHP), DHS Senapati in collaboration with the National Service Scheme of Don Bosco College Maram today in the college Auditorium hall.
The programme was graced by Sr Flora Khujoor, vice-Principal of the college; Bijoy, IQAC Coordinator; Sweta and Dr Ngouniba Peter, District Nodal Officer DMHP as presidium members.
The programme focused on treating anxiety, stress, depression, suicidal tendencies, promoting mental health and raising awareness about it.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Ngouniba Peter said that the social stigma on mental health present in the society should be eradicated while adding that mental health does not confine to the term 'mentally retarded' alone but also to other mental illness.
Clinical psychologist, Paveine Paulina who attended as resource person stated that different signs of mental illness include difficulty in handling day to day activities, feeling anxious, worried or stressed most of the time, change in sleeping and eating habits, change in feeling, uncontrolled emotions, addiction to tobacco and alcohol and suicidal thoughts.
She urged the students to spread the awareness on mental health issue to their peer groups.
