The Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has sought detailed status report on Dr Haraba case.
The MHRC directed the DGP (Director General of Police), Manipur to instruct Officer-in-Charge, Imphal Police Station to submit detailed status report on the investigation of the case to the commission on or before June 22.The commission was hearing a complaint filed by one Chingangbam Gyaneswar, convenor, JAC Against the Brutal Assault on Dr Ningthoukhongjam Haraba (Medical In-Charge of Six Quarantine Centres) .
It may be noted that Dr Haraba was allegedly assaulted by two Sub-Inspectors of Manipur Police identified as Vikram Khumbongmayum and Khomdram Bungcha on June 7 at around 9.15 pm near Uripok Energy Petrol Pump.
A collision of vehicles of both parties had caused the alleged assault and subsequently Dr Haraba's father, Ninghthoukhongjam Tombi Raj had lodged a police complaint after which an FIR was filed.
The MHRC direction came after the two police personnel were released on bail.
Many have been condemning the alleged assault on the doctor.
