AMSU inspects schools in Jiribam

Jiribam, April 30 2019:
AMSU District Committee Jiribam led by its president Yurembam Sanjiv Singh conducted inspection at various Government schools in the Jiribam today.
The volunteers and members with W Deemocha Singh and publicity secy Thokchom Thanil Singh visited Jirighat High School, Bidyanagar Primary School, Uchathol Primary School, Agalpur primary School, Sonapur Primary School and East Sonapur Primary School.
At Jirighat High School the team found that only 8 teachers out of the 14 were present.
The Headmaster of the school was found to be on casual leave.
Next, the team visited Bidyanagar Primary School at around 11 am, but was found closed.
At Uchathol Primary School, all the three teachers were found present.
The team took note of the failing infrastructure of the school.
Next, at around 11.50 am, the team found Agalpur Primary School closed.
At Sonapur Primary School, all the teachers were found present.
The school which has a total of 373 students needs renovation.
The numbers of students exceed the capacity of the classrooms in the school, observed the team.
Despite it being a primary school, it has classes upto VII .
At East Sonapur Primary School, the team found a substitute teacher of the lone teacher of the school taking classes.
According to locals, the teacher had attended the school 4 or five days only this year.
The school has about 110 students (Class I to V) .
Despite the claim of the Government that they take education seriously, the Government schools in far flung areas like Jiribam need constant and proper inspection, said AMSU urging the Government and the authorities concerned to take actions against erring teachers and school authorities for their failure in carrying out duties.
It also urged the ZEO Jiribam to take concrete steps to improve education system in Jiribam.
