AITA Super Series : Ashwajit Senjam, Bhicky Sagolshem in boys singles quarter

Manipur's Ashwajit Senjam and Bhicky Sagolshem have reached the quarter finals of the boys singles competition in the AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament for U-14 boys and girls organised by Manipur Tennis Association at Officers' Club tennis court at Lamphelpat.
Senjam Ashwajit saw off Tamil Nadu's Sadeeskumar 7-6 (2), 6-0 in the second round clash for a place in the quarter final while Bhicky sealed the last 8 round berth with a 7-5, 6-2 win against Ved Sampath Pawar of Maharashtra in another second round clash.

In other second round clashes, Jigyasman Hazarika overcame Harshad Bohra 6-4, 6-1 in an all Assam clash; Mahalingam Kandhavel of Telangana eased to 6-0, 6-1 win against Victor Mohanram of Haryana; Mihir Parcha of Telangana overcame Tamoghna Das of West Bengal 6-2, 6-3; Assam's Manan Nath outlasted Joshua John of Maharashtra 6-2, 6-4; Assam' Ved Aditya Kalita downed Gavin Wahengbam 6-3, 6-4 and Rohan Agarwal overcame Heisnam Shanker 6-2, 6-3 .
Girls singles
However the State's campaign in the girls singles suffered a major setback as Laishram Nandini, Yumnam Thoibi and Meidingu Sanareima were beaten by their respective rivals.
Nandini Chanu went down 1-6, 3-6 to Odisha's Archita Sahoo in a second round clash today while Y Thoibi suffered a 2-6, 1-6 loss to Verma Jagatdeo of Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile Sanareima had an embarrassing 0-6, 0-6 loss in the hand of Shimreen Ahamed of West Bengal.
In other second round clashes of the girls singles competition, Chandini Srinivasan clinched a 6-2, 6-2 win against Agnimitra Bhattacharya of West Bengal; Malishka Kuramu of Telangana overcame Sreemanya Reddy 6-0, 6-1; Tania Kumari sealed a 6-2, 7-6 (3) win against Tanishqa Patar.
Boys Doubles
The boys doubles competition of the tournament began today.
Rajivkumar Thongbam and Prasurjya Borah reached the last 8 round with a 4-6, 7-6 (7), 10-5 win against Almas Ebon Ahmed and Bikramaditya Mahanta while Mahalingam Kandhavel and Shanker Heisnam clinched a 7-5, 6-2 win against Harshith Anugonda and Tamoghna Das to set up quarter final clash with Jigyasman Hazarika and Harshad Bora pair.
Antariksh Tamuly and Ved Kalita also reach the quarter final of the doubles competition with a 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 win against Aditya Shukla and Aryan Borah.
Ved Pawar and Joshua Eapen had a 6-3, 6-3 win against Dhandeep Mili and Gavin Wahengbam pair in other clash of the day.
