Single day positive cases jump from 259 to 314 in 24 hours

Imphal, April 29 2021:
Single day COVID-19 positive cases have crossed 300 in the State with 296 civilians and 18 CAPF personnel testing positive for the virus during the last 24 hours.
Moreover, the death toll has reached 400 after five persons aged 62 (male, Imphal East), 54 (male, Bishnupur), 78 (male, Imphal East), 70 (female, Imphal West) and 76 (female, Imphal West) died of Covid related complications during the last 24 hours at Raj Medicity, JNIMS and RIMS.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 314 new positive cases were detected at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Imphal West, Maipakpi Hospital, Mother's Care Hospital, Raj Medicity, CMC, Imphal Hospital, Shija Hospital, Jivan Hospital, Advance Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Escent Diagnostics, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching, Ukhrul, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Senapati.
This a huge jump from the total of 259 logged on April 28 .
The 296 civilians who have been tested positive belong to Imphal West (128), Imphal East (77), Thoubal (11), Bishnupur (14), Kakching (29), Ukhrul (1), Churachandpur (14), Kangpokpi (13), Senapati (3), Noney (2) and Tengnoupal (4) .
On the other hand, 56 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (45), CAPF (2) and Shija Hospital (9). However, the total number of recovered cases is considered as 314 after reconciliation with reports from IDSP team, home isolation team and hospitalisation team, it said.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 31,315 (general population 27,763 and Central security personnel 3,552).This figure includes 1225 active cases (general population 1127 and Central security personnel 98) and 29,690 recovered cases (general population 26,240 and Central security personnel 3,450).The recovery rate as on Thursday is 94.81 per cent.
Air passengers who came to the State on April 25 by Indigo flight 6E-6181 in rows 16-21 and 6E-21 in rows 29-35 have been informed to report to the COVID-19 Common Control Room on 18003453818 or respective District Surveillance Officers immediately.
On the other hand, not a single positive case was detected out of 43 air passengers tested today at Imphal airport.
So far, 4,377 air passengers have been tested at the airport and 98 have been found positive.
As per latest information provided by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, 1,59,860 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the State.
Further, all persons above 45 years have been advised to get vaccinated at vaccination centres of RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals, CHCs, PHCs and select private hospitals.
