MR man on poll duty dies of Covid

Imphal, April 29 2021:
One Jemadar of 6th Manipur Rifles who was detailed for election duty in Assam and West Bengal died of COVID-19 at Guwahati Medical College today.
The deceased Jemadar has been identified as one Waikhom Ronald (36) s/o Waikhom Ibohal of Thoubal Kshetri Leikai, informed a source.
Manipur Police has sent a letter to the Government of Assam to send home the mortal remains of the MR personnel.
Ronald was admitted to Guwahati Medical College on April 20 and he breathed his last around 12 noon today.
He left home on March 19 for election duty in Assam and West Bengal.
After the completion of polling in Assam, Ronald was heading for West Bengal when he became unwell on reaching Silliguri.
Thus he returned to Guwahati on April 17 .
Polling in the two States concluded today At Guwahati, he tested for COVID-19 so that he could come back to Manipur but his result turned out to be positive.
Subsequently, he was admitted to Guwahati Medical College on April 20 .
Ronald is survived by his wife, one son and a daughter.
The mortal remains of Ronald is being brought back by road and his last rites would be performed tomorrow.
Thoubal DC N Bandana has already issued a notification in this regard, said the source.
According to the order, the mortal remains are being brought by road via Mao Gate in an ambulance.
