Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykishan has said that he will never retract his stand on the construction of market sheds at Thangal bazar.
He was addressing a huge number of his supporters at his Khoyathong residence after his release from police custody this evening.
The MLA was arrested by police from RIMS crossing at around 10.30 am for leading a protest rally in defiance of CrPC 144 .
After detaining the MLA for some hours, he was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West under Section 151 of Indian Penal Code in the afternoon.
During his Court appearance, police told the Court that the MLA did not have any intention to defy the law.
As such, the Court ordered his release from police custody.
After he was freed at around 4 pm, the MLA was warmly welcomed by TAKDO volunteers and a large number of Thangmeiband locals at his Khoyathong residence.
Addressing the gathering, Joykishan said that he would always stand against every Government decision which goes against the wish of the people.
Saying that he would never retract his stand on the construction of market sheds at Thangal bazar, Joykishan said that the Government is yet to invite him and the people of his AC for talks on the issue.
The MLA also cautioned the Government not even to think of executing any work forcibly.
Urging the Government to carry out any development work after studying all the pros and cons, Joykishan asked the Government to give up its alleged dictatorial actions.
The MLA said that he would oppose all the Government activities which undermine people's desire no matter whether these happen in his Constituency or outside his Constituency.
He thanked all those who had supported his cause and taken part in the protest rally today.
The MLA also expressed concern over injuring many people in police action.
Joykishan said that he would announce his future course of agitation after consulting the matter with the people of Thangmeiband.
On being informed by some reporters that construction of temporary market shed at Thangal bazar is still going on, the MLA said that it has shown the true authoritarian nature of the Ibobi-led Congress Government.
