Imphal, September 21 2012:
Ruling out the possibility of mid-term poll at the Centre, Thangso Baite, MP of Manipur Outer Parliamentary Constituency, has charged the Opposition with not daring to an open debate in Parliament over the charges levelled against PM Manmohan Singh in connection with 'Coalgate' .
Talking to media persons here today, Thangso asserted that the Opposition party was also reluctant from discussion on other issues raised in the report of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) on the floor of Parliament peacefully.
Since nothing has been discussed on the floor of the House regarding the allegations levelltr against the Prime Minister, he cannot be regarded as guilty.
The Prime Minister is totally clean.
"In fact, the PM had already given a written clarification in the House over the allegations and the copy of the same circulated among every member of the House", he added.
He also charged Trinamool Congress with opposing Congress party over any issue and maintained that UPA government arrives at every decision after discussing the matter with all its allies.
Since they (MPs of TMC) were always against Congress party on anything, they seldom take part in such discussions.
So, it would be wrong to say that they were never consulted on any issue.
The MP further informed that even after withdrawal of support by Trinamool Congress from UPA government, there are a number of other political parties who are supporting UPA.
So, there is no chance of a mid-term poll.
Since the current five-year term of UPA government is nearing its end, all the political parties are looking forward to an election after the term.
Clarifying over the issue of Kukis migrating from Myanmar to Manipur, Thangso contended that as far as Churachandpur is concern there are no Kuki illegal migrants.
Since all the Kukis speak a common language, there is no need for them to understand and speak Manipuri language to communicate with each other.
So it would be wrong to presume that Kukis who do not speak Manipur are illegal migrants.
