Imphal, November 07 2012:
Condemning bomb attacks by armed groups on security personnel, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who also holds the portfolio for Home, exclaimed that such bomb attacks could never bring any solution.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Gaikhangam said that bomb attacks on security personnel cannot be termed as a breach in security arrangement of the state government.
Pointing out his desire to control all such cases of bomb blast, the Deputy Chief Minister said that all the concerned have been given instructions to tighten up security measures.
Consequently, a meeting of the Strategic Operation Group (SOG) was held at the office chamber of the Chief Secretary of Manipur today.
Replying to a query, Gaikhangam said that if the state forces were found involved in killing of Babu after being picked up from near his house in Andro, severe actions will be taken up against the perpetrators.
He observed that the report sought by the Supreme Court over extra-judicial killing of around 1500 persons in the state is not an issue which happened in a day or two, but over the last 30 years.
So, the state government is facing difficulties in filing a complete report.
Nonetheless, arrangements have been put in place for submitting the report.
