5 including 4 civilians hurt in bomb attack

Imphal, November 07 2012:
At least four civilians and a Naik Subedar of 18-Sikh Regiment were injured when a bomb, planted by suspected UGs to attack security personnel, exploded near the fencing wall of Tulihal Airport at Ghari Makha Leikai under Imphal west district on Wednesday.
The four injured civilians included a class XI student of Comet Higher Secondary School, Changangei identified as Pukhrambam Romen (16).The other three are Khangembam Shanti (60) w/o late Modhubir of Kumbi Setupur Maning Leikai; Ningthoujam Dilip (35), s/o N Ibotomba of Airport Colony and Oinam Joy (37) s/o Modhu, who is the Chowkidar of Blue Ocean Academy.
All four of them sustained minor injuries.
Pukhrambam Romen, who was travelling in a bus to go to school, realized that he was hit by bomb splinters only after he reached his school.
He was immediately rushed to RIMS by the school authorities for necessary medical attention.

Ningthoujam Dilip, who was coming to Imphal in a van, sustained injuries on his right leg.
The wind shield of his van also suffered damage in the blast.
The Naik Subedar of 18-Sikh Regiment who sustained bomb splinter injuries has been identified as Sikinder (33).He was given first aid and later sent to his post, according to Army sources.
The blast took place when a team of 18-Sikh Regiment was returning to their post located inside the Airport in three vehicles after fetching water.
After two of the vehicles passed the spot, the bomb exploded near the third vehicle.
The front wind shield of the third vehicle was damaged by the impact of the blast.
The injured Naik Subedar was seating in the front seat of the vehicle when the bomb went off.
The bomb which was planted on the road divider along NH 150 was believed to have been triggered through a remote control device.
All the persons who sustained injuries were travelling along the eastern side of NH 150.No UG group has claimed responsibility for the bomb attack till the filling of this report.
Meanwhile, another time-bomb, which was found planted near Wangbal Junior High School along Imphal-Moreh road was recovered and successfully detonated at the foothills of Thoubal Khunnou at around 6:30 am today.
According to police reports the bomb which weighed 2.5 kg was found along with two plates of TNT explosives, a special electronic detonator and a stop-watch fused in a wrist watch.
A few hours after the incident, another IED exploded near Slopeland Public School along NH-2.At that point of time, an AR convoy was coming from Kakching.
The bomb exploded before the convoy reached the spot.
There is no report of any casualty in the blast.
