Building construction of Information Technology Park

Building construction of the Information Technology Park at Mantripukhri is nearing completion and once operational will boost IT-related business in the State, said Nambam Deben, Officer on special Duty, Department of IT, Govt of Manipur.
Speaking to the Sangai Express, Deben said ever since the then President of India Pratibha Devisingh Patil laid the Park's foundation stone on March 11, 2011 building construction is being carried out vigorously to ensure its completion within the specified timeframe.
Conceding that bandhs and blockades during the construction period compelled revising the Rs 31 crore project's completion target to March next from the previous target of December this year, he exuded confidence that the first IT Park in the North East region would only provide job opportunity to IT-savvy youths of Manipur but will also facilitate smooth operation of IT-related business.
While confiding that most of the construction work, including brick work and laying of tiles have been completed along with 60 percent internal electrification work, Deben said software developers and entrepreneurs relying on IT-enabled services would be provided 20,000 sq.
feet working space.
Further stating that aim of setting up the IT Park is to ensure undisrupted internet service in secured environment and round-the-clock ATM service, the OSD said the working space would be expanded to 45,000 sq.
ft from 2014 to accommodate 2000 workforce capacity.
He also disclosed that atleast three IT entrepreneurs from Manipur, whose firms are currently based in other cities, have expressed strong desire to shift their bases here.
Similar enquiries have been received from many other local IT entrepreneurs, Deben said while expressing that once functional the IT Park will generate healthy revenue to the State exchequer part from the benefiting individual entrepreneurs and IT firms.
