Imphal, July 01, 2012:
"If Inner Line Permit (ILP) is not implemented in the state at the earliest, indigenous people of Manipur would be crushed down by the migrant population and the present MLAs would not be able to hold the post of even a Pradhan then", President of FREINDS Sapamcha Jadumani has exclaimed during a protest session held at Sagolband Yengkhom Leikai Commnity Hall to press the demand for re-implementation of ILP system in state.
The protest session was organized by Yengkhom Leikai Development Club.
Jadumani stated that when we say that the government would fall into the hands of the migrants, it does not necessarily mean that they would be using force to rule the state.
Since India is a democratic country where the majority rules, it is quite obvious that everything would fall into the hands of the migrants as their population keeps increasing.
As such, with migrants likely to become the majority in the state in near future, any delay over re-implementation of ILP would only hasten the rule of migrants and at that time, the present indigenous MLAs would not be even in a position to hold the post of Pradhan.
Jadumani pointed out that with ever increasing population of migrants in the state, there would come a time when all the posts of the government are held by them since it will not be possible for the indigenous people to compete with the outsiders, who have come with huge knowledge.
At present there are around 2 lakhs Nepaleses in the state.
In Jiribam, the population of influx Muslims from Bangladesh has reached 50 percent of the total population.
The migrant population in Thangmeiband, Uripok, Wangkhei, Thoubal, Moreh, Khundrakpam and other Assembly Constituencies have the final say during election time, and the most saddening as well as embarrassing part is that Uripok, Nagamapal, Paona Bazaar and Thangal bazaar are now completely ruled by non-Manipuris (Mayangs), Jadumani observed.
The present situation would become even worse with the coming of railways in the state as it would intensify influx of migrants.
By then, the state would be overcrowded by non-Manipuris, the FREINDS President observed, and added that the only means to prevent such a situation from happening in the state is re-implementation of ILP as it is done in other neighboring states like Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.
Meanwhile, street vendors of Singjamei bazaar staged a similar protest session to exert pressure on the state Government for adopting a resolution in connection with re-implementation of ILP in the state during the ongoing Assembly session.
