Imphal, July 01, 2012:
The proscribed UG group Kangleipak communist Party-Military Council (KCP-MC) today observed the death anniversary of its Founder Baji Ibohanbi at its GHQ by offering floral tributes and observing two minutes silence.
KCP (MC), in a statement signed by its Finance Secretary, Nongdrenkhomba, stated that the communist movement in the state was first introduced by Hijam Irawat before Manipur was forcefully annexed into the Indian Union.
After his death in 1951, his followers continued the movement till 1971-72 when it ended abruptly.
However, Yendrembam Ibohanbi revived the movement on April 13, 1980 and established KCP.
Unfortunately, he was killed in an encounter on July 1, 1995 at Heituppokpi, Andro.
Today, cadres of the party are following the footsteps of the late leader to free Manipur from the colonial rule, it added.
