Altogether five underground cadres have been arrested in Manipur in the last 24 hours by the security forces personnel in differrent incidents.
Of the five militants two are from Revolutionary People's Front (RPF), another two from PULF and one from KCP(MC), according to official sources.
The two RPF cadres have been arrested from Heikakpokpi of Thoubal district by a team of the district police commandos yesterday and they have been identified as one Khundrakpam Opendro aka Open (40) and his son Kh Prem aka Hussen Singh (18) of Heirok Part-II Laimayum Leikai.
Addl SP (Ops), Thoubal district, Jogeshchandra Haobijam informed in a press release that the two are active members of RPF and working in finance section of the organisation.
The two PULF cadres were arrested by Assam Rifles and Maratha Light Infantry in separate incidents from Imphal East district last night.
They have been identified as Imtihan Khan (20) of Keirao and Mayangmayum Bashirudin aka Shadi (29) of Irong Makha Leikai, Maibam Palli.
The KCP activist was arrested by Imphal West district police commandos from Deulaland area in Imphal yesterday afternoon.
He has been identified as Monglam Devan (33) of Khurai Ahongei Leikai.
Imphal West SP informed in a press release that he joined the organisation last month and was working under the command of one Ibochouba aka Ebai of KCP (MC-City Meitei) from Nongbrang.
Meanwhile, troops of 33 AR under Red Shield Division arrested an overground worker of PREPAK identified as Salam Biramangol Meitei aka Mayekhongba of Khordak Awang Leikai in Bishnupur district today.
A press release issued by PIB (DW) stated that the arrested OGW was involved in extortion and tax collection.
He has been handed over to Kumbi Police station.
