Imphal, February 10, 2010: The proscribed UNLF, reacting to a news item published in local dailies wherein it was stated that Ningombam Boinao @ Jiten, son of Thoiba of Thoubal Ningombam who was killed in an encounter with a combined force of police commandos and security forces, asserted that it is an irrevocable fact that Boinao is a surrenderee who was attached to the AR Post at Yairipok.

In a press release signed by Ksh Yoiheiba, Senior Publicity Officer, the UNLF stated that it an open secret that security forces and police commandoes are indulging in killings and other crimes on a daily basis and even though there have been movements against some of these, there have been many occasions on which the people have remained quite out of sheer fear.

Continuing the release said that on this date there are many who failing to live to the revolutionary ideals have deserted the movement and are attached to different AR post and who are being used a tools in killings and various kinds of crime being committed.

The surrenderees are forced to indulge in extortions and killings in the name of revolutionary groups, to malign it in the eyes of the people.

These surrenderees are being fed and looked after in different post of the security force and are used to harass the family members of revolutionary cadres and common as also carry out various other crimes.

And when they refuse to carry outlived their utilities, they are then killed in fake encounters.

This then projected as a successful campaign against insurgents by the PRO of the security forces through the media, said the release.

The release finally warned the people of Manipur to be wary of such tactics of the security forces who are trying to cast the revolutionaries in a false light.
