Imphal, May 28 2020:
Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) has once again reiterated to shun indifferences among the people and put up a collective fight against the dreaded COVID-19 to save the future generation of the State.
The new virus has wreaked havoc across the globe and taken many lives and the only way to defeat the disease is to know it very well, said CCSK in a statement.
CCSK also added that it would be very important to thoroughly study the guidelines issued by World Health Organisation and Indian Council of Medical Research and applicability of the guidelines in the State as geographical conditions, way of living, vegetation, culture, food habits etc.
varies from one State to another.
All must take note of the measures effective in dealing with the transmission of the virus causing the pandemic at places with similar geographic locations and conditions, said CCSK while expressing the need for a combined effort from all sections of the society.
As positive cases of COVID-19 is so far only among the returnees, the Government and Department concerned must keep a close eye on them and ensure the disease does not transmit randomly, said CCSK while urging all to be supportive and act responsibly.
The committee also appealed returnees to be more understanding considering the gravity of the situation and not to create more panic and psychological disturbances to the people who are already suffering due to the Nationwide lockdown.
Presuming that all the returnees are COVID-19 carriers would be wrong, maintained CCSK and urged all not to discriminate the returnees who have been facing hardships above racial discriminations at various locations of the country.
And to avoid unnecessary discrimination and development of fear psychosis, all local clubs, organisations and academicians should join hands to raise awareness and create a platform to ensure smooth communication among all.
Understanding among all is the need of the hour, added CCSK while drawing attention of the State Government not to do anything to create confusion and hurt the sentiments of the lockdown affected people.
Denouncing the traders of illicit items and other narcotic substances during such a crucial situation, CCSK also urged the State to press hard on the issue and give befitting punishment to those involved in the trade.
