Imphal, April 30 2021:
Given the Covid scenario here with as many as 314 positive cases detected on Thursday, the People's Task Force for COVID-19 (PTFC-19) has appealed to the State Government to initiate all steps requisite for preventing the spread of coronavirus and to the public to mandatorily obey Covid appropriate behaviour.
In a statement, PTFC-19 also appealed to local Covid task force units, clubs, village authorities to ramp up Covid preventive measures in their respective areas.
The committee further urged the Government to reopen AC/districts and State level awareness and enforcement committees for COVID-19 to ensure community involvement in this fight against the invisible foe.
Opining that Covid is deadlier and infectious in the second wave, the PTFC-19 added that more preparation, manpower and efforts are required to control the virus spread if the cumulative number of Covid positive cases and related deaths reported in April alone is put into consideration.
It is vital for all Covid Care Centres to reopen and upgrade the facilities at hospitals at the earliest possible, he said and further urged the Government to increase the strength of health care professionals for treating critical Covid patients.
Urging all the citizens above 45 years to get vaccinated for COVID-19 compulsorily, the PTFC-19 appealed to the State Government to announce the date of commencement for vaccinating those above 18 years and start the inoculation process at the earliest.
