DESAM reiterates

Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur
(DESAM) has today reiterated that only local woven 'phanek'
should be used as school/college uniform for girl students.
Addressing media persons today at its head office located
at Keishampat, assistant secretary of DESAM, Soibam Porcia
said that DESAM has been prescribing the use of only local
woven phanek as school uniform for girl students.
However,
some schools have used imported ready-made garments as
school uniform while some prescribed long pant as school
uniform.
Porcia urged all those schools using imported ready-made
garments and long pant as school uniform for girl students to
pay heed to the direction of DESAM.
The students' body will
keep strict vigil in this regard.
DESAM also shared solidarity
to the family of a 6 years old rape victim of Chingningkon,
Bishnupur district.
Addressing the press meet, cultural affairs
of DESAM Khoirom Jeena said that no shops/dukan within
100 metres radius of educational institutions will be allowed
to sell any intoxicants and DESAM will launch a campaign
in this regard soon.
