The 3rd Manipur International Documentary, Short and Animation Film Festival (MIDSAFF) 2018, will be organised for three days from tomorrow at Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) multipurpose auditorium, at Palace Compound.
The film festival is being organised by Films Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India and Manipur State Film Development Society.
Speaking to media persons at MSFDS today, Director (Administration) of Films Division, Mumbai, Swati Pandey said that 14 films, including two Manipuri films, which won awards at the 15th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) will be shown during MIDSAAF.
The director informed that Haobam Paban Kumar's 'Phum Shang/Floating Life' which won the Golden Conch award and Bobo Khuraijam's 'Ima Sabitri', which won the Silver Conch award for best documentary at the 15th MIFF will be shown during the festival and there will be interaction session with the directors as well.
As a part of the 15th MIFF North East outreach programme, the 14 films will be shown first at Imphal, she added.
Swati Pandey also mentioned that the festival is being organised in the State due to its rich art and culture as well as for the numerous young and talented documentary film makers residing in the State.
She said that the State was also chosen due to the enthusiasm shown by the film makers as well as the audiences and added that the festival will provide a platform for the young and talented film makers to showcase their works.
On the other hand, Haobam Paban Kumar said that there will be masterclass session between renowned film makers and the students.
Renowned film maker Jahnu Barua, renowned cinematographer and film maker Ranjan Palit and renowned film maker and editor Arjun Gourasia will take part in the masterclass, he added.
He further explained that during the festival, masterclass session will be held in the morning followed by film screening in the afternoon.
People can enjoy the films free of cost, he added.
