Imphal, June 25 2020:
Claiming that the State Government has been distributing fertilizers in such a biased manner, farmers are finding it difficult day by day in acquiring the fertilizers, stated a press release issued by the All Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association (AMPFA) .
Pointing out the numerous challenges currently faced by farmers all over the State in acquiring fertilizers from just one outlet per district, the statement issued by AMPFA has demanded for more outlets to be opened in all districts.
Further, it is extremely hard for all those farmers whose proximity to the district outlet/office is far.
Due to this, most of them have resorted to buying the fertilizers from nearby dealers at an inflated price of Rs 600-700, when the same is being sold by the Government at a subsidized rate of Rs 266.80, it stated.
Saying that there are many farmers without land patta, the association also appealed to the Government to address the issue of those farmers who cannot furnish land patta of their paddy fields, which is a requirement to buy fertilizers from the district outlets of the Agriculture Department.
