Chandel, September 10 2016:
Numerous chickens in Leibi village have reportedly died after being infected by an unknown disease.
In a statement, Leibi Village Authority secretary Kh Morung and village authority member DL Moses Maring have urged the State Government to take up necessary measures and assist the villagers.
The villagers went to Moreh Veterinary Hospital.
However, there were no doctors available except for a chowkidar and few staff members.
Kh Morung said that many chickens have been infected by an unknown disease while many of them have also died.
Unavailability of veterinary doctors has added to the woes of many poultry farmers of the village.
He urged the State Government to look into the matter and initiate required measures to check the outbreak of the disease.
