No let up in ILPS protest; several students faint as police charges and fires tear gas shell

Imphal, September 10 2016:
At least 4 students were fainted and dozens other sustained serious injury after police fire several round of tear gas shells and charged them using baton while trying to disperse a students' rally at Kwakeithel junction.
Report said large number of students from Comet Higher Secondary School, MEM Higher Secondary School and Imphal College today gathered at Imphal College at around 1.00 pm under the initiative of the JCILPS Students' Wing.
From there, the students marched towards CM Bungalow where they were intervened by a strong team of Manipur Police.
The students' agitators confronted the police for a while saying that the demand is for all the people of the state and it should by supported by all including the police.
The Students also shouted slogans demanding implementation of the Inner Line Permit System in the state to protect the indigenous people of the state.

The Police then charge the students using batons and fire several round of tear gas shells to disperse the student agitators.
A tear gas shell landed inside a hard ware shop belonging to one Oinam Anand Singh. Seeing the excess committed by the police, vendor ladies of Kwakeithel left their stalls and joined the students.
Meanwhile, report said that at least 6 students including 4 girl students were seriously injured after they were hit by the tear gas shell.
All the six have been evacuated at RIMS hospital.
