Ukhrul, August 09, 2012:
With regard to Irungbam Madhubala's claim that TCC members pocketed money to secure release of her abducted husband Irabanta from NSCN (IM), the former functionaries of Tangkhul Coordination Committee (TCC) has urged Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) to set the matter straight in the interest of general public.
In a press communiqu issued by TCC ex-convenor K.Jonathan and secretary Worthing Horam, it appealed to the TNL president, who is also the ex-officio chairman of TCC, to verify the matter by ascertaining whether the claim made by Madhubala is authentic.
On August 6, some section of the media carried a report stating that TCC members took Rs.10,000 from Madhubala to secure her husband release from NSCN custody.
"Who are the persons involved in such dealings? The TNL should verify the authenticity of the claim.
If the claim is true, it's really a matter of shame.
The culprits should be given fitting punishment," the statement said.
The copy of an appeal letter submitted to TNL in this regard .has also been forwarded to Tangkhul frontal organizations comprising TSL, TNWL, TKS and TMNL among others.
Furthermore, former functionaries of TCC stated that if the claim was true, then it is an insult to the Tangkhul community and should be decried by all concerned.
