Digital banking campaign launched

With the initiative of SBI Churachandpur main branch, a Digital Banking Campaign was launched today at Dorcas Hall mini-auditorium with Panna Lal Das, SBI General Manager Network�II formally launching the campaign.
The solemn function also graced by Chief Manager SBI Churachandpur branch Pauneihthang Valte, DDM/NABARD Thangchinkhup Guite and AC to DC Churachandpur S Thienlaljoy Gangte.
Church leaders and students also attended the campaign.
Addressing the gathering, Das said the demonetisation move by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is part of the Government's Digital India Campaign and attributed the cash crunch in the State to the State Government's reluctance to transport cash into the State by road due to the prevailing law and order situation.
The SBI Manager further appealed to the public to make use of mobile app 'SBI Buddy' through which transactions can be initiated without cash.
Gangte on his part highlighted the difficulties and inconveniences the administration as well as the public are facing as a result of demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.
The officials are also understood to have visited a probable site for setting up a bank branch at New Lamka area, our correspondent reports.
