One day free eye camp held

The National People's Party (NPP), Kshetrigao Unit Committee and Shija Eye Care Foundation, Langol organised a 'Free eye screening and subsidised surgery' camp today at Porompat Thawanthaba Leikai.
The national general secretary of NPP, Vivekraj Wangkhem stated that the event was organised as a part of the election campaign and also to start taking up works which will benefit the common people.
Many civil organisations have expressed keen desire to make the election less expensive, free and fair, he said and added that though electioneering entails huge expenditures it would be more productive if the money invested for election campaigns is utilised for the good of common people.
Such free medical camps and eye care camps can be used as an effective means of electioneering, Vivekraj said.
Vivekraj who is set to contest in the coming Assembly election stated that such camps are also being planned for other different areas of Kshetrigao A/C.At the campt today, patients were screened for retinopathy, glaucoma, cornea, pterygium, conjunctivitis and allergy childhood eye defects.
Low-cost cataract surgery was also conducted.
