Imphal, October 08 2018:
Nupilan Memorial Association Manipur organised Tarpon offering ceremony for the brave and patriotic mothers of Nupi Lan at Tera Keithel today.
Speaking on the occasion, State Awardee, Longjamba Meetei (Netaji) stated that the ceremony was organised to pay tribute to the mothers who fought bravely and sacrificed their lives during the Nupi Lan in the year 1939, 1940 and 1941 .
He stated that the ceremony is organised annually.
Meetei mentioned that the MSCP Government in 1998, proposed to name the road from Nityaipat Chuthek till Sanjenthong as "Nupilan Ningshing Lambi" to pay homage to the mothers But failed to do so till now.
In view of the upcoming Nupi Lan Memorial ceremony, he appealed the present BJP Government to turn the proposal into action and give the name to the said road.
Meetei informed that the order to name the road as "Nipilan Ningshing Lambi" was reportedly passed by the cabinet of MSCP Government even before the setting up of Nupilan Complex.
He appealed the State Government to extend its support in protecting the brave fights and movements of mothers at that time so that the story lives on for the future generation.
