Bishnupur, October 08 2018:
As part of the ongoing campaign by the JCJLPS to check the illegal influx of non-locals in the State, a new JCILPS Torbung Unit was opened in a simple function held at Torbung community hall, Bishnupur district by its Convenor Yumnamcha Dilip today.
The inaugural function of the new unit was attended by Convenor JCILPS Yumnamcha Dilip, Co-convenor Jitendra Ningombam, YK Dhiren and Brojendro Noarem, Convenor Women's Wing JCILPS Memcha Leima, executive member N Rabi and elders and prominent personalities of the locality.
Higlighting the need of opening of such office in the area to act as a check post, convenor Yumnamcha Dilip said that before the full implementation of People's Protection Bill passed by the State Government, JCILPS has taken the step to put a check on the influx of illegal migrants in the State following the release of NRC final list in Assam which can pose a serious threat to the demographic structure of the State.
He conveyed that after JCILPS units were opened in various areas of the State including the one at Mao Gate, Jessami, Jiri and Keithelmanbi, the need arises to open a unit at Torbung considering the road links that connect Moreh from Mizoram through Churachandpur.
He also stated that the movement of JCILPS is not to put restriction on the non-locals travelling in Manipur but to ensure that they entered Manipur with valid documents.
He further urged the members of the unit to check the entry of non-local thoroughly as many of them used forged Voter Id and Aadhaar card to enter the State.
The convenor also appealed all the passenger service providers in the State not to ferry illegal migrants for some extra money.
