Pointing out the gaping differences between the report tabled by Chief Minister O Ibobi in the House and the actual scenes witnessed on the spot, MLA O Joy has sought an inquiry into the BT Road incident, which led to the death of Rabina and injuries to five other people on July 23 .
Initiating a debate on the Manipur Appropriation (No 3) Bill in the State Assembly today, Joy said that the mat ter deserved a second debate in the House, in view of the divergent reports and obser vations coming forth from the people.
Maintaining that the House should condemn the acts of terrorism being per petrated in the State, Opposition leader, Radha binod Koijam observed that it would be in the fitness of things to institute an inquiry in order to find out which and whose bullet killed Rabina.
He also expressed his desire to impart necessary modern training to po lice personnel.
Drawing the attention of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, who is also in charge of Home, during the zero hour of the Assembly today, MLA of Lamshang Assembly Constituency, W Brajabidhu today called for proper justice in connection with the June 23 incident at BT Road.
The MLA pointed out that the people of Manipur want to know whether the pregnant woman was killed and the five others injured by the bullets fired by the security personnel or by the slain militant.
MLA RK Anand observed that there is the need for proper discussion on the issue since the public have expressed their dissatisfaction over the state ment made by the Chief Minister, in connection with the incident which took place in broad daylight.
Later, during the discussion on passing of the Appropriation Bill, the Chief Minister assured that the State Government would take up necessary measures to find out the circumstances leading to the BT Road firing which killed Rabina along with her child in the womb and Sanjiv of Khurai Sajor Leikai.
The Chief Minister went on to say that talks have been held with the JAC formed in connection with killing of Rabina and her unborn child.
Although the JAC has raised the demand of instituting a judicial inquiry a judicial inquiry into the incident to find out the truth, the Government cannot give any commit ment on the demand.
Yet would be try to find out the circumstances leading the incident.
The Chief Minister also announced that there is equipment now which can instantly detected extortion or demanding money from the people and efforts would be made to install the same very soon.
Opposition leader Radhabinod Koijam, Opposition members O Joy, Dr Ng Bijoy and Th Shyamkumar who were also present during the discussion on passing the Appropriation Bill exerted pressure on the Assembly to find out the how the July 23 firing incident at the busy BT Road of Khwairamband Bazar had taken place.
