A health camp with the objective of preventing transmission of HIV/AIDS from the women living with the disease to their new born children was conducted at Tera Sapam Leikai today.
The camp was conducted by the ASHAs under the Village Health Committee with the initiative of the Manipur AIDS Control Society (MACS) by the Rural Women and Children Development Welfare Association, Toubungkhong.
During the camp blood sample were taken from around 70 pregnant women to test the status of HIV/AIDS.
Doctors also advised on the healthcare to be taken up by women during pregnancy period.
Apart from giving awareness for protection from the dreaded disease, require medicines were also distributed free of cost.
Three doctors, laboratory technicians from RIMS took part in the camp.
If any of the women found positive at the time of blood test, they will be givien free care service by MACS.
