Imphal, Aug 17:
As there has been no positive response from the authority concerned to the stir being undertaken by the Kege Moirang Apunba Lup for provision of requisite doctors and staff at Moirang Community Health Centre, the agitation of sealing the CHC would continue.
Speaking to reporters today, general secretary of the Kege Moirang Apunba Lup P Priyobrata said the move to seal the CHC was taken up as the existing condition of the CHC was far from satisfactory.
Even as a memorandum was submitted to the Health Minister on August 2 drawing for his attention towards the deplorable condition of the CHC, there was no response from the authority concerned and as such the agitation to seal the CHC was launched since August 10, stated Priyobrata.
Although seven doctors were posted to the CHC, only three doctors have been serving in the health centre, as two doctors have been transferred elsewhere, one had left for his PG course and another one has been disabled because of his own illness, he conveyed.
As only three doctors, two ANM nurses and three staff nurses are working there at present, the CHC has been severely crippled to serve its purpose since a long time back, he noted adding that a representation highlighting 10 points concerning the shortages and requirements of Moirang CHC has been submitted to the State Government.
The basic points include provision of adequate number of staff, initiation of befitting actions against irregular staff, upgradation of the CHC building and repairing of the toilet complex, residential quarters, ambulance vehicle, renovation of fencing, development of approach road and to ensure regular and adequate water supply, posting of a gynaecologist, anaesthetist and provision of required materials and drugs in time, informed Priyobrata.
