Imphal, Aug 17:
Taking serious note of the proceedings of the State Level Calamity Relief Funds Committee meeting held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary on August 10, the All Manipur Relief Association has decried the failure of the Committee to give due importance to the recommendations of the Deputy Commissioners.
A statement issued by the All Manipur Relief Association while acknowledging the magnitude of the landslides in Gopibung, Keithelmanbi and adjoining areas in 2004, noted that there have been landslides in every nook and corner of the State including many places where the State authority could not reach.
While flaying the decision adopted by the Committee to re-enquire calamities under Bishnupur and other districts, it asked whether the Gopibung and Keithelmanbi were the only ones entitled to relief benefits.
Asking whether the victims of calamities in other places would be granted relief or not, it cautioned that the All Manipur Relief Association would approach the High Court for the cause of justice if theCommittee fails to respond within three days.
