Tourist spots needs to be exposed to attract tourist: KK Chhetry

The various tourists spots in which which could attract tourists from different parts of the world need to be exposed to the maximum, exclaimed KK Chhetri, Commissioner, Tourism Department.
Addressing media persons at Hotel Imphal today, KK Chhetri said that the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, organized a familiarization (FAM) tour for the officers of Tourism Departments of the North-Eastern States in Guwahati, Gangtok & Kolkata from 9th to 14th April, 2012.Except for Nagaland and Tripura, all the NE States participated in the tour.
Team Manipur was led by Shri KK Chhetry, Commissioner, Tourism, Govt of Manipur along with Dr K.Shyamsunder Singh, Deputy Director, Tourism and Shri Rajeshor Thoudam, Architect of Tourism Department.
Chhetry further informed that the objective of the FAM Tour was to familiarize the participants to tourism related products, destinations, best practices in States like Assam, Sikkim and West Bengal.
Interaction with the local tour operators and the hoteliers were also conducted during the tour.
Likewise, tourism operators would be called in to Manipur and made to guide the tourist visiting the state to expose the rich tourist and cultural spots, he said.
He observed that Manipur has become a tourist attraction.
With the removal of PAP from the state the number of tourist visiting the state has increased tremendously.
At this point of time, if the roads connecting the state with the outside world are improved and the hotels are developed to world class standard, the state would be benefiting a lot from tourism industry.
As such the roads of the state should be constructed in the most appropriate manner by the PWD.
Team Manipur successfully showcased the USPs with regard to culture, sports and nature based tourism and made a fervent appeal to the tour operators to include Manipur in their tour and travel itineraries as tourism in India cannot grow without Manipur in particular and NE in general, he added.
Dr K.Shyamsunder, Deputy Director, Manipur Tourism was also present at the press conference.
