Imphal, March 15 2016:
The Konthoujam Block Youth Congress
Committee (KBYCC) has alleged large scale irregularities in the
way Imphal West district administration has been handling the
process of implementing the National Food Security (NFS) Act in
Konthoujam A/C.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here
today, KBYCC general secretary K Brojendro expressed keen
desire for the concerned authority to review the preparations
being done by the district administration for implementing
NFS Act.
A notification issued by the Imphal West DC on March 10
listed only three fair price shops/rationing centres for
Konthoujam A/C.
Highlighting that Konthoujam A/C covers a large area,
Brojendro said that opening fair price shops/rationing centres
only at Konthoujam Lairembi Leikai, Sagoltongba Mayai
Leikai and Heigrujam Maning Leikai would not be enough
for implementing the NFS Act effectively.
Compared to Konthoujam A/C's three, Lamshang A/C and
Mayang Imphal A/C have been allocated 15 and 12 fair price
shops/rationing centres.
Brojendro also expressed deep suspicion that only three
rationing centres have been allocated to Konthoujam A/C due
to political influence by the incumbent MLA.
He demanded at least 13 fair price shops/rationing centres
for Konthoujam A/C .
