Mass consultation on Indo Naga peace process held

Imphal, March 15 2016:
A one day mass consultation on Indo-Naga Peace process was
held on Monday at Longmai Noney common ground,
Tamenglong with P Chuba Ozukum, president of Naga Hoho
and Gaidon Kamei, president of UNC as the resource persons.
Many Naga Hoho officials like Samson Riamei, vice -
president, Naga Hoho, Chitho Pochury, secretary, Naga
Hoho, UNC officials TS Warngam vice - president, general
secretary S Milan, finance secretary K Kaikho, deputy
speaker KB Aduan, Naga Women Union general secretary
W Asha, Ashinpou Gangmei, vice - chairman of Committee
For Alternative Arrangement, frontal organisation leaders
of Zeliangrong, representatives of Zeme , Liangmai,
Rongmei, Inpui, Chiru and Kharam tribes residing in
Tamenglong district, Church leaders, student leaders,
women leaders, students and teachers from various schools
and the public attended the meeting.
More than 2500 people
were present at the mass consultative meeting.
P Chuba Ozukum, during his speech called for Naga
unity adding that the community may struggle for another
40 years like the Israelites as mentioned in the Bible if they
hesitate to come together.
Before the Shillong Accord, there
was unity amongst the Nagas, he stated.
From 1975 on-
wards the Nagas have been fighting among themselves and
are divided.
The period was the most pitiful period in Naga
history.
"Let us not undermine our Naga leaders irrespec-
tive of factions but let us share our thoughts without
reservation.
It is the right time to retrospect on the past and
be united.
Let us not always blame the Government of India
but let us blame ourselves," he stated adding that the Nagas
don't want anything but unity at present.
Gaidon Kamei
said the Framework Agreement between the NSCN(IM)
and the GoI is important and added that the final agreement
when it comes, will be an agreement with the people.
