Warrants issued against erring Pradhan, Members

Acting on the complaint of job cad holders under Waikhong Gram Panchayat, Judicial Magistrate First Class, Thoubal today issued warrants against the Pradhan and some Members of Waikhong GP as well as against the Sub Post Master of Waikhong Branch Post Office.
Six job card holders of Waikhong GP sought assistance from the Legal Aid Clinic at Cheirap Court Complex alleging that the Pradhan and some members of the GP have withheld their Job Cards and Bank Pass Books and wages are not given to the job card holders of MGNREGS regularly.
After discussing the matter, the clinic advised the Pradhan and the members to settle the issue.
However, they failed to bring any settlement.
Subsequently, the matter was brought to the notice of Member Secretary of Manipur State Legal Service Authority who appointed advocate Meihoubam Rakesh as the counsel of the six Job Card holders and transferred the case to Judicial Magistrate First Class, Thoubal District.
After hearing of the case, the Judicial Magistrate issued warrants against the Pradhan and some Members of Waikhong GP and also instructed the police to produce the accused Pradhan and members before the court on September 10 .
The names of accused persons against whom the warrants have been issued included Pradhan Elangbam Deven, Panchayat Secretary Chaopok Kom, Sub Post Master M Chandrika, Member Th Ibemcha, Member L Keinaton, Member Kh Ngouba, Member Ch Gopal, Member S Lalbabu and Member Y Nolini.
The six complainants are A Shyam, S Prakash, S Basanta, Kh Nimai, Ch Manaoyaima and Kh Raghu.
