Teinem, Phalee raise 'repair road' cry

Ukhrul, September 22 2020:
The villagers of Tuinem/Teinem and Phalee have appealed to the State Government to repair the Makuikong road that links the villages to Ukhrul HQs and LM-TD block.
In a press conference held at UDWJA office, Viewland Ukhrul today, A Sochipem, Chairman of Phalee village said that the villagers of Teinem and Phalee in had attempted to repair the road using tools like spade and pickaxe.
Chairman of Teinem village, Yangsing added that the road has not been repaired since 1980 and in spite of repeated requests to the successive Governments, no action has been taken till date to repair the damaged road which is not the only road that links the villages to Ukhrul district but also the shortest road to Ukhrul HQs.
The association also highlighted the problems faced by the villagers especially during the monsoon season and urged the Government to look into the matter and do the needful at the earliest.
After the briefing, media persons along with the village leaders visited the site to get a first hand report on the condition
of the road.
