Jananeta Irabot laid the foundation of new Manipur: Sotinkumar

Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council has lauded many organisations and institutions for paying rich tributes to the late Jananeta Hijam Irabot during commemoration programmes which is being underway in the State.
Despite the COVID-19 fear, people are gradually starting to revere the late leader who spent his entire life against the injustices and fought for upholding the territorial integrity of the State, said CPI state secretary during a programme held at Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai.
The function held at the residence of Indian Association of Lawyers, Manipur Chapter's secretary, K Samungou was preceded by attendees paying floral tributes to the statue of Hijam Irabot in a park opposite to the Manipur Legislative Assembly.

CPI State Secretariat member, A Lala; CPM State Secretary, Ksh Santa, CPM's secretariat member, S Sarat Singh were among the presidium members who attended the event, said a statement of CPI State unit.
L Sotinkumar speaking at the occasion highlighted the series of movements and the role of Hijam Irabot during those movements and said that it was because of Irabot and his supporters that had helped in shaping the present Manipur.
Irabot's contribution in literature, arts and culture, games and sports and moves to converge Manipuri diasporas spread across the neighbouring States and country should never be forgotten, he continued.
The statement further said that "Manipur Kanba Numit" observation was also successfully held at Wangjing Wangkhei yesterday.
The observation programme was organised by CPI Wangjing Local Council and Thoubal District Council under the aegis of Irabot Celebration Committee and was attended by many local CPI leaders, the statement said.
